Faculty Position: Transportation Planning and Policy Analysis, ID #1227NT Faculty Position in Transportation Planning and Policy Analysis, ID #1227NT Closing Date: November 10, 2007 The Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of California, Berkeley, solicits applications for a new faculty position in the area of Transportation Planning and Policy Analysis. The position will be filled at the Tenure Track Assistant Professor level. The anticipated starting date is July 1, 2008. The successful candidate must hold a doctorate degree in city and regional planning or an allied field, and must demonstrate potential for high-quality research and teaching. He or she is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate transportation courses to students of diverse backgrounds. The candidate is also expected to conduct research on multi-modal transportation planning and policy analysis and the connections between urban and regional transportation systems and larger social, environmental, economic, land use and urban design considerations. Desirable areas of expertise include any of the following: transportation economics and finance, program and project evaluation, travel-demand forecasting, transportation systems analysis, and transportation impact assessment. Research or teaching interest in such areas as urban economics, spatial modeling, and geographic information systems is also desirable. Candidates with relevant domestic and/or international professional experience are welcome. The position will be filled at the Tenured Associate Professor or full Professor level. The anticipated starting date is July 1, 2008. The successful candidate must hold a doctorate degree in city and regional planning or an allied field, and have a demonstrated record of high-quality research and teaching. The candidate’s work in urban growth management and land-use planning should have an analytical orientation and encompass one or more of the following areas: land economics, urban systems modeling, spatial analysis, GIS, real-estate project development, housing, physical land-use planning, and urban fiscal impact analysis. The ideal candidate is someone with vision, research experience that is highly relevant to growth management policy and practice, and a drive to chart new intellectual territory. The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students of diverse backgrounds. The candidate must also be able to teach a course in urban economics as well as courses in one or more of the following areas: project development, public finance, spatial analysis, GIS, housing, quantitative methods in planning, and urban simulation modeling.
